Oklahoma Centennial - Apr 9-12, 2008

Who is going and or showing? Also - I have been able to locate the dates for this show, but not a contact person. Anyone know who the manager or show sec. is this year? I will also need a contact e-mail or phone number for that person. TIA!

Press release form Cindy Clinton at the NSHR

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 23, 2008

Contacts: Board Chair Karen Cunningham, 405.302.2900, or
Show Manager Scarlett Mattson, 270-547-2407.

Oklahoma City, OK—(January 23, 2008)—The Oklahoma Centennial Horse Show announces its grandest show yet!

The 20th annual multi-breed show will be held April 9-12, 2008 in the newly-renovated equine facilities at the Oklahoma State Fair Park.

The show continues to grow in support, with the exciting addition of the National Show Horses (NSH) this year. The Centennial has been selected as the NSH district show. Nancy Becker from Nicolasville, Kentucky will judge.

“We are so excited to welcome the NSH breed, which will join the Morgan, Saddlebred, Roadster Horse & Pony and Hackney/Harness exhibitors,” said Karen Cunningham, board chair. “We believe our Oklahoma-friendly hospitality, combined with the wonderful facilities and great area attractions, will be enjoyed by all who come to qualify.”

Lewis Eckard from Hillenbrand, North Carolina will judge the Morgan, Saddlebred, Roadster, Hackney/Harness and Equitation.

The Oklahoma State Fair Park has done much to improve facilities for exhibitors and horses. First, stalling will be in the new Super Barn at the fair park, a brand new state-of-the-art barn featuring a huge warm-up ring, 1,200 new, large permanent stalls and natural lighting. Plenty of wash racks and super wide hallways will allow this to be the first year in our show’s history that all exhibitors will be able to stall in the same area. Our vendors will be able to display there, and our Exhibitor and Progressive Barn parties will all be held in the Super Barn. So it promises to be a lot of fun.

Classes will be held once again in the Arena adjacent to Barn 6, as construction continues on the coliseum arena. The Barn 6 arena is the same size as the coliseum, 120’ x 250’, with more intimate seating. The fair park has installed new audio in the arena, and there will be a fresh coat of paint. The show will boast three covered warm-up rings. In response to comments from the trainers who travel so far to get to here, they will have access to the barn, warm-up rings and show arena starting Sunday morning. This will allow trainers and exhibitors to move in early if they desire.

Show management also has revised the show schedule, adding and moving some of the junior exhibitor and walk/trot classes. Based upon great input from the Morgan exhibitors and trainers, management changed their schedule to allow the classes to flow better. “We feel the Morgans will be pleased with the new exhibitor-friendly arrangement,” said Cunningham.

For more information, as well as online entries, go to www.okcentennial.com.
Printed prize lists and forms are also being mailed. Or contact Show Manager, Scarlett Mattson at scarlett@bbtel.com or 270-547-2407.
